Giulia Piscitelli is an artist whose practice explores social, political, and cultural dynamics through a multidisciplinary approach. Working across installation, video, and found materials, she reflects on themes of labor, value, identity, and collective memory. Her work often engages with everyday objects and contexts, transforming them into critical narratives about contemporary society. Giulia Piscitelli was born in Naples in 1965, where she lives and works. In 1988 Giulia Piscitelli met Al Hansen and took part in projects promoted by the Ultimate Akademie in Cologne, such as Documenta Banana. From 1992 to 1994, together with other artists, she promoted the multimedia project Studio Aperto in Naples. Between 1995 and 1997, she worked for the art magazine Collant, whose editor-in-chief was Argento Migliore. In 2006, she began her collaboration with Galleria Fonti in Naples, where she has presented five solo exhibitions.

A frame marks off what lies within it, and that alone makes it sacred. I imagine a ray of light striking the top of a gilded frame; the glint it leaves there appears to me as a slit through which I can see a second world. The frame would be more valuable than the work it contains.
